The U.S. Campaign to Ban Landmines – Cluster Munitions Coalition (USCBL-CMC) is pleased to announce that the Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC) and the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) were elected as co-chairs of the campaigns for the term beginning in 2026. Ursala Knudsen-Latta, Legislative Director for Peacebuilding, will serve for FCNL and John Ramming Chappell, U.S. Advocacy & Legal Advisor, will serve for CIVIC as the campaign’s co-chairs.
CIVIC is an international non-governmental organization dedicated to the protection of civilians in conflict. As a humanitarian protection actor, CIVIC bridges the gap between people at risk and those with the power and responsibility to protect them.
FCNL was founded in 1943 by members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), as a national, nonpartisan organization that lobbies Congress and the administration to advance peace, justice, and environmental stewardship. FCNL previously coordinated the U.S. Campaign to Ban Landmines from 2004 to 2008, including during the expansion of the campaign to include the Cluster Munitions Coalition in 2007.
Please join the USCBL-CMC in welcoming CIVIC and FCNL to their new roles as we advance our shared vision of a safer world. For questions, please contact USCBLCMC[at]gmail.com.
