USA… NO EXCUSE FOR NOT JOINING THE MINE BAN TREATY
The First Preparatory Meeting for the Mine Ban Treaty’s 5th Review Conference (5RC) took place in Geneva on 20 June 2024, at the end of the Intersessional Meetings. During this event, the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) delivered its comments on the political declaration as well as read the Gender & Diversity Working Group statement.
In preparation for the 5th Review Conference scheduled for November 2024 in Siem Reap, Cambodia, the ICBL launched a logo and slogan: “Eradicate Landmines, Empower Lives. No excuses, No exceptions, No delays!” This powerful message captures the treaty’s central goal while echoing the original 1997 negotiation motto, “No Exceptions, No Reservations, No Loopholes.”
